It appears we are not speaking the same language?

You buy a Promote and a C8 style cable to connect it to your camera (these both come from Promote Systems).

Then, you buy a Wireless Remote Cleon I or Cleon II with a C6 style cable 2.5mm mini-plug style and you connect this to the Promote (not the camera!).

I can't say it any clearer than that.

If you don't want a Wireless Remote. Yes, you can use a timer shutter release (this is how I used it until I added the Wireless Remote).

I think I understand now. Even though the Cleon I & II with the C6 connector states it does not work with a 40D but the 450D instead, you ignore that spec because it is going into the Promote which has the c6 (Cannon 450D) style connector.

Basically don't pay attention to the Cleon camera model specs because you are not connecting it directly to the camera.

Smooth, you mentioned you have the D300s, have you shot any videos yet? If so do you have any links to share?
I have been thinking of getting the D300s as well and have seen some videos on YouTube and they look pretty good depending on who shot them.
Just wondering what your thoughts were on the new camera and the video capabilities!

I haven't really no, I have played with it but my Canon does Full 1080P HD where as the Nikon is 720P HD. From what little I have shot with it seems nice enough. I don't own much of a range of lenses for the Nikon so I only shot with the 10.5mm fisheye. I must say I have shot more video with my Panasonic Lumix LX3 compact then any of my other "still style" cameras.

I upgraded to the D300S because I seen that D300 were selling for more than I paid for mine. Luckily it worked out that way. I got close to $500 more then I paid. That said, it still cost me another $600 on top to do the D300S purchase! LOL but hey, thats life in the digital age.
