Standalone *.exe

Most of you know I'm not very techie, but trying to learn. I have googled for information and no luck understanding any of it.
I see TW5 has a standalone *.exe, so my questions are:
1. What is a standalone *.exe?
2. What can I do with it?
3. How does it benefit me with virtual tours?

All the components are wrapped up into one file so it can be passed around. Emailed (if you can get it passed security) best to .zip it first.

A lot easier for Autorun CD's, people don't have access to your images from a simple folder as they do with the standard method.

Flash doesn't need to be installed on the computer viewing it (at least it should be that way).
