I want to get started with object photography. For this I need a turn table. I know that Kaidan have a couple of them, but they can only hold small objects with a low weight.

A client of mine want a photo of wedding dresses. I would love to be able to use a live model for this purpose. I know that models are quite thin but not under 50 pounds (the max weight of the Kaidan manual turn table is 50 pounds and the motorized is only 20 pounds) Do any of you know an alternative supplier? Or perhaps a web site with instructions on how to make one my self.?

I know that in the states and any many other countries they have something called a lazy susan, but not in Denmark :o(

How come there is no answers to my previous post. Are there really no body out there that is in to object photography? I would really love to know if it is possible to make acceptable object movies with the software from easypano and a digital video camera. It sounds like a market with a lot of potential if it is that easy to make.

I don't know of any forum members who are regulars that use this products. Personally I do objects tours using "still camera photography" I made my own large turn-table and I have one small turn-table that I purchased.

Cleaning each frame is very time consuming and not something that can be automated with any great degree of success. You will find lighting is very important and making specialised backgrounds a must have.

To give you an idea of the clean up work take a look at www.smooth360.com/swap  and you will see before & after by using mouse over image. There is 36 photo's in that Red Scooter 3D Object. Photo's taken every 10 degrees. My turn-table was made with MDF and a Lazy-Susan style bearing. (the turn "Lazy-Susan" may not exists where you are) but it is just a low flat strong bearing. Often used for turning large TV's. I purchased mine at the local hardware store. I'm also sure you could buy one online if you cannot find it locally. 

As for the Modelweaver software I don't think there has been an upgrade in many years. (Maybe it was already perfect?)

Thank you for your reply.

I still dont know if it is something I will start doing. I think I have enough challenges doing panoramas, but I got the inquiry from a client and thought it was worth looking in to.

I will properly take a couple of days out of my schedule and give it a go. If I find the result fairly ok I might persue it further. But again. Panoramas is where my heart is, and right now I am not up to the challenge of another learning curve and the investment in to much equipment. I would only do it if it turns out fairly easy.

But I do belive that if you are able to taget the right companies it must be a media with a lot of potential as more and more companies realise the value of online product presentations. But I believe you have to target the producers.

I have a competitor who is doing some great stuff www.360foto.dk but I don't really think that much of his earnings are comming from objects.

i know u did the scooter some time ago.  from what u have learned new so far,

is there something u would do differnt now to avoid the touch ups?

as far is set up, lighting, etc is concern.

Yes, shoot RAW!

Get the first shot as correctly exposed as possible and use lights to help to achieve this. Avoid square corners. Once you have as close as you will get without editing shoot all other images in RAW format. Using your RAW converter adjust for the best result and then apply these RAW setting to all others in the series.

every how many degrees is best to rotate and take photo?

are there any good tutorials on using ptviewer to show object modeling?

i've also read online online to be about 10 feet away from the

white background when shooting...this way the white background is

really white and less or no need to adjust with photoshop. so the image is ready to go.  on that note, the better/more light you put on the white background, the better the end result.
